Hello ,
As you look
back over 2022, you have so much to be thankful for. God has connected you with others in a divine way. There is a reason He has brought them into your life. Today, Annie Perdue-Olson shares what you can do to express your thankful heart to others in your life.
Blessed to Be A Blessing
Have you ever noticed someone in your life who has a significant need? Your radar is heightened, and their needs get your attention. Look around, who do you see in your world and notice their needs with compassion?
If we reflect on Jesus as our model, then compassion compels us to be a blessing to others in the same way we have been blessed.
Compassion is a deep awareness of the suffering of another and a wish to relive it. It’s not an emotion, but a call to action; a call to
use the gifts that God has given us.
Read Mark 9:21-22 and notice how Jesus recognized and responded to the desperation of the boy’s father and encouraged him with “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
Or in
Luke 7:13 when Jesus comforted those who were grieving and then touched the woman’s son to bring him back to life and back to his mother.
Or in Mark 1:41 when Jesus was moved to compassion for the leper and reached out his hands to bring healing.
If you look around at the people in your life you will notice their needs and feel compassion. Have you ever imagined that would be the Holy Spirit? A God-given radar that helps you notice what God is noticing?
Your compassion compels you to join God in his compassion toward the people in your
life.
God calls us into partnership with him. Other people’s needs aren’t our responsibility. They are God’s responsibility. Yet, He invites us in to join him.
We GET to be a blessing because we have been blessed by God. He
has revealed his love and truth into the crevices of our lives, and we GET to reveal that love and truth to others.
Compassion toward those in our life who need God’s blessing is a holy gift. On today, Thanksgiving Day, we are honored to express gratitude toward God and for those who have extended compassion to us in our own stories.
One of the powerful things about being a part of A Transforming Word Ministries is also being able to be a blessing to the church through the teaching and words shared by this ministry.
Join me in partnering today to be a blessing, just as you have been
blessed. To encourage others with the encouragement you have been given.
